Fabulous Fruit! Slide Show Teaching Tool for Kids Aged 9-13

This slide show was developed by two Nutrition PhD students to help educate children about the benefits of eating whole fruits.

The slides offer reasons why fruit is good for you, in simple terms.

Board or dry erase examples are very easy to integrate with the PowerPoint Presentation. To downoad, simply right click on either of the slide photos, select "open in a new window," click on "file" in the upper left-hand corner, then "save as a PPT."

Following the presentation, the students can:
1. Do a blind taste test with fruit on a toothpick and try to guess which kind it is
2. View and taste different fruits to guess what kind of nutrients they contain

The activities are a great time to introduce very tasty and novel fruits, like mango and papaya. Ripe mangos and papaya will be very fragrant and will yield slightly to touch.
